Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a big regret for Warner Bros. Pictures…?! It’s being reported that Warner Bros regrets agreeing to release the Snyder Cut on HBO Max. Could this really be the case? It might be if Variety’s recent report is to be believed. According to their inside sources, Warner Bros regrets caving into Snyder’s demands and releasing his version of the movie on their streaming platform.
Before we get into the weeds of this news, I do want to make it very clear that we, here at Small Screen, were delighted when it was announced that Snyder’s cut was going to be released on HBO Max. We were even happier when we got to watch the movie and finally see Snyder’s initial vision on the screen. Yes, it wasn’t on a big screen, but it was still fantastic that we got to see it all for ourselves. So, all that to say, we were over the moon to get to watch the movie.

However, there are now reports suggesting that the studio actually regrets releasing the movie, which I think is a bit bonkers. It seems to have to do with the fact that Snyder ended up going massively over budget for the movie. It’s also being reported that Warner Bros has an issue with the number of bots on Twitter that played a big part in getting the movie greenlit in the first place. Since then, the movement has also sparked others, such as the ‘release the Ayer Cut’ movement. There’s also another one for Batgirl also after it was revealed that Warner Bros Discovery had opted to cancel the movie before its release.
Anyway, the studio’s new regime after Warner Bros’ merge with Discovery is not too happy about the old regime’s decision to release the Snyder Cut on HBO Max. Here’s what Variety stated in their article:
Privately, studio insiders have lamented that Zack Snyder’s Justice League never should’ve happened. Rather than quiet the unceasing online campaigning to #ReleasetheSnyderCut, the four-hour HBO Max feature only further entrenched the vocal and extremely online “Snyderverse” fanbase in opposition to the leadership at the studio in general and at DC in particular.
Should they regret releasing the movie?

The question is, should Warner Bros regret having released the Snyder Cut on HBO Max? As far as the studio’s concerned, they’ve had to deal with a lot of flack on social media. Fans online have constantly been pestering Warner Bros on social media to do things such as restore the SnyderVerse, release the Ayer Cut and release Batgirl. They do say that all PR is good PR, but I’m sure that Warner Bros would rather not have to deal with all of these online fan movements.
I’m sure that Warner Bros would love to just move beyond the Snyder Cut and the SnyderVerse, but they are finding that hard to do. The fans are very vocal online, and that won’t stop any time soon. I’m sure that the studio would love to see the fans get excited about upcoming DC projects such as Black Adam, Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2.
