It’s been revealed that Zack Snyder’s Justice League is coming to HBO Max and we’ve been wondering whether he’ll end the film on a cliffhanger ending.
There have been a lot of column inches dedicated to Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League movie.
To be honest, it’s totally warranted because this is unprecedented.
I can’t think of another movie in which the director who was originally hired to make the movie then got a chance to release his film after it already came to cinemas having been helmed by another director.
That was a very long and complicated sentence.
If you’re reading this, then you probably know what happened with Justice League.
Zack Snyder was directing the film, then his daughter tragically passed away, and he was replaced by Joss Whedon.
At the time, it was reported that Snyder stepped down to be with his family.
However, there have since been reports that he might have been fired by Warner Bros. Pictures.
It was suggested that they didn’t like the movie he was making. Then they panicked and brought in Joss Whedon – the man behind the first two Avengers movies.

Anyway, after years of pressure to release the Snyder Cut, it looks like Warner Bros. capitulated after it was revealed Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be coming to HBO Max in 2021.
This is, of course, huge news. It’s good for the fans who were eager to see Snyder’s vision for the movie, and also good for Snyder.
He deserves this, and I’ve been wondering how his film might differ from Whedon’s theatrical cut.
Justice League was originally intended to be a two-part movie, just like the final two Avengers movies were.
It was well-documented that Snyder wanted to bring in Darkseid, and that was teased at in Batman v. Superman.
I reckon that that’s what he’s going to do with his upcoming cut of Justice League.
I think that Steppenwolf will be beaten by the League, but then Darkseid comes down to Earth and basically obliterates everything and beats the Justice League.
This would mean that the movie would end on a huge cliffhanger, which could be really exciting.

It’s no secret that Snyder wanted to use Darkseid in his movie.
With the news that his cut could either be a four-hour-long film or a six-part series, there’s definitely room to have the DC Comics villain in the movie.
It would be a bold move to bring in Darkseid, but it would also make sense.
Steppenwolf was never intended to be the film’s main villain.
There were also so many teases before in the DCEU of Darkseid’s imminent arrival that it would make sense for Snyder to bring him in now.
It would also allow Snyder to tie up some of the time-travel plotlines that were left dangling in Whedon’s cut of the movie.
We’ve seen comic book movies now in which the villain wins, and I think this is an idea that Snyder really likes.
This possible cliffhanger ending for Snyder’s Justice League was also mentioned in the recent episode of The Weekly Planet podcast.
I agree with James and Nick Mason, who suggested that this might end up being the case with Snyder’s cut of the DC Comics movie.

If Snyder were to end the movie on a cliffhanger in which Darkseid wins, it would also open up the door to a possible sequel.
Should the movie prove to be a huge success on HBO Max, then Warner Bros. Pictures might be persuaded to make yet another Justice League movie.
That would be pure madness, but I’m pretty sure that people would love it.
This whole thing could end up being only available on streaming.
It would be a good move for HBO Max to retain subscribers.
They’ve been known to spend a lot of money on their shows.

It was also suggested that they might end up spending an extra $20 to $30 million on Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
That’s already a lot of money to release a movie which was technically already released in cinemas.
It makes me think that this film will be a totally new thing, and I reckon it will end up with a cliffhanger ending.
