It’s being reported that Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie reboot is going to focus on female superheroes, and this news has caused quite a stir. First off, let’s discuss where this news comes from. It comes to us via DanielRPK, also known as Daniel Richtman. Richtman is a pretty well-known scooper, and his scoops tend to be pretty much spot on the money.
When I posted this news on our Facebook page, I could see a lot of commenters getting rather annoyed about it. I’ve been seeing a lot of negative comments and people talking about Marvel Studios going “woke”. I hate that word because I think it’s lost all meaning. However, people must remember that many of the X-Men are actually women.

You have the likes of Storm, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Rogue, Kitty Pride… There are so many female X-Men, and they’re all pretty darn cool. Personally, I do not mind an X-Men movie focusing on them. And the fact that it’s going to focus on the female characters doesn’t mean that there won’t be any male X-Men in the movie. Of course, there will be.
I think what people need to do here is to calm down a bit. Yes, DanielRPK’s scoops tend to be pretty much spot on. But, the fact of the matter is that this movie is still quite far off. It hasn’t gone into active development yet. As far as I’m aware, they are still only really working on script ideas and looking for a director.

So, anyway, all of this is to say that we all need to take a breath, calm down, and wait and see what happens. I think Marvel Studios will do a good job with the X-Men. They kind of have to now. X-Men is going to be really important for them and the future of the MCU.
