An X-Files reboot is truly in development, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler will be at the helm of a more diverse cast. If there was any show that struck the chord for science fiction twists and conspiracy theories, that would be the X-Files.
Particularly, the show thrived on the premise of aliens hiding in plain sight and governments working together to hide the fact that aliens are already among the people.
Eventual narratives of alien invasion and saving the human race came towards the latter seasons and the movie. Starring David Duchovny as Fox Mulder partnered with Gillian Anderson Dana Scully. The two are assigned to investigate unexplainable unsolved cases of the FBI, known as the x-files.
From the show, many other series drew inspiration from its story. It became an inspiration to many sci-fi flicks and even horror movies to this day. Its approach to covering the beliefs of conspiracy theorists, as represented by Mulder and pitting it against the objective and sensible assessments of Scully kept its audience glued to the screen many years ago.

According to The Mirror, original series creator, Chris Carter, has spoken with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler about reviving the popular show, this time with a diverse cast. This development of a reboot for the series is exciting news for fans. Carter said:
I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast. So, he’s got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory.
Talking about the possible overarching story for the reboot, Carter said:
We’re so steeped in conspiracies now. The X-Files dealt with a central conspiracy, but now the world is so full of conspiracies that I think that it would be a different show.
Stars Duchovny and Anderson are true to their characters’ nature in the difference of their opinion on whether they’d be back for the reboot. While the new series in development is expected to have a new set of actors, it is a reboot, after all.
There is still the question of whether they would like to return as a guest or some form. Duchovny is open to the idea of returning as he said he doesn’t refuse such things.
Meanwhile, Anderson had this to say on the TCA press tour in 2018:
It’s time for me to hang up Scully’s hat. It just is.
