It’s been revealed that Willem Dafoe has joined the upcoming Robert Eggers Noferatu movie, which is very exciting news indeed. This news comes to us via Deadline.
Dafoe and Eggers have already worked together on the movie The Lighthouse. Dafoe starred in that movie alongside Robert Pattinson and it ended up being on of 2021’s critical darlings.
Critics just loved the movie and praised Dafoe and Pattinson’s performances in the picture. This upcoming Nosferatu movie is going to star the likes of Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard and Nicholas Hoult.
It seems as though Hoult has been doing a lot of vampire-related movies of late. He’s already starring alongside Nicolas Cage in the upcoming Dracula movie, Renfield. Eggers is going to be writing and directing the upcoming Nosferatu movie.
The movie is going to be produced by Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Eggers, Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus.

In the new reimagining, Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
There had been a lot of reports claiming that Dafoe was in talks to star as the ancient Transylvanian vampire. However, it was revealed not too long ago that Bill Skarsgard has been cast in the role.
So, we don’t know which role Dafoe is going to be playing in the movie. Dafoe and Eggers had also worked together on The Northman, which starred Bill Skarsgard’s brother, Alexander Skarsgard.
Moreover, Dafoe, already has experience playing the Nosferatu creature in Shadow of the Vampire. He ended up with an Oscar nomination for his performance in that movie.

Dafoe’s upcoming projects include two Yorgos Lanthimos pics — Poor Things and And. He’s also going to be turning up in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City and French thriller The Man in the Basement.
Dafoe will also be appearing in Vasilis Katsoupis’ Inside and Walter Hill’s Dead for a Dollar. His recent projects include Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley and the $1.92 billion-grossing Spider-Man: No Way Home.
There’s no release date for Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu movie yet. However, it does seem as though the movie is going to be released in 2024.
