Pepper Potts: Dead
I know that Gweneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts isn’t technically an Avenger, but we do know that after the events of Iron Man 3 she now has powers, and there is a rumour that she spends some time in an Iron Man suit during the movie. My theory – and I’m not alone in thinking this – is that when we see Tony Stark crying in the very first Avengers: Infinity War trailer, he’s mourning the loss of his new wife, Pepper. Some believe that she gets into the suit to help the Avengers fight Thanos’ evil minions and that she ends up being killed during the battle. I really wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to be true and whether or not this is the death that the Russo Brothers have been teasing that happens right at the beginning of the film. It would undoubtedly give Stark a reason to let bygones be bygones and fight alongside Captain America in an effort to protect Earth and the universe from Thanos.
Loki: Dead
As I mentioned earlier, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has been one of the best Marvel villains in the whole MCU. However, he crosses that line between hero and villain. I suppose he’s a textbook anti-hero. He doesn’t do anything, good or bad unless there’s some for a benefit for him to be had. We’ve been delighted and appaled by Hiddleston’s Loki ever since his first appearance in the first Thor movie. He then was the main villain of the first Avengers movie and most recent;y had a great turn in Thor: Ragnarok.
Unfortunately, I feel this will be his last hurrah. Make no bones about it, Loki will fall by the hand of Thanos in Infinity War, and I believe it will be in his most heroic act yet. I think that he’ll die trying to save the lives of his fellow Asgardians by giving Thanos the Tesseract (which is also the Space Stone), in exchange for their lives, and Thanos being Thanos, takes the stone and disposes of Loki. At least, that what I think will happen.
Iron Man: Dead
One of the big two will die in the movie. Either Tony Stark or Steve Rogers. The only thing is knowing which one. They might end up both dying, but I’m not sure if the MCU could handle both of them being slaughtered in the same movie. The whole MCU started with Iron Man, and Robert Downey Jr.’s been playing the role for almost 11 years now. Thanos would be a fitting villain to die against, and there are a few people who could take his place. There’s been talk ofT’Challa’s sister Shuri stepping into the suit once Stark is gone (maybe they could give her the new title of Iron Woman. Wouldn’t that be cool!). I’m not sure whether that will happen, but I do know that Stark and Downey Jr. have given the Avengers and the MCU a lot, and it might be time for them to say goodbye to the franchise once and for all.
Captain America: Dead
So, Chris Evans’ Captain America is my best bet for the Avenger most likely to die in Avengers: Infinity War. It’s been coming for a while now, and I thought that he was going to die in Captain America: Civil War. Infinity War feels like the right time to say goodbye to Cap and Chris Evans. He’s one of the longest standing Avengers and, like Stark, has given so much to the cause. A lot of this film seems to be a struggle between Thanos and Cap, which I believe Thanos will win. However, I reckon it’ll take a lot out of the Titan and Cap’s death will be something that the rest of the Avengers could rally behind. They could take strength from his message and come together to fight Thanos in Avengers 4, whatever it ends up being called.
