What Is Sylvie’s True Identity In Loki On Disney Plus?

Loki Episode 3 just landed on Disney Plus and fans are already asking themselves whether Sylvie is really who we’re being lead to believe.

The show did set Sylvie up as being a variant of Loki – so this means that she’s Lady Loki.

However, there have been some fans suggesting that she’s actually another Marvel character in disguise.

I wanted to look into this and try and get to the bottom of why Sylvie really is in Loki.

First off, I’d like to state that this latest episode of Loki really showcased what a talent Sophia Di Martino is.

She plays Sylvie and I think she works perfectly alongside Tom Hiddleston as his version of Loki.

Is Sylvie actually Enchantress?

So, at the beginning of the series, it was revealed that Mobius wanted Tom Hiddleston’s variant of Loki to hunt down another Loki variant.

However, in episode 2 it was revealed that this variant was actually a woman. [Insert Roger Moore’s James Bond saying “a woman…?” from Octopussy]

Yet, then some eagle-eyed viewers spotted in the credits that Sophia Di Martino’s character was actually called Sylvie and not Lady Loki.

This then got people talking and wondering who she really was.

Is she actually a female variant of Loki – or is she someone masquerading as a Loki variant?

The fact that the character’s called Sylvie got people suggesting that this character might actually be Enchantress.

And no, I’m not talking of the Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress from that awful Suicide Squad movie.

No, I’m talking of the character from the Marvel comics.

So, in the comics, there’s a character called Sylvie Lushton, who also goes by the name of Enchantress.

If you take a close look a this Loki variant’s powers in Episode 2, you’ll notice that they aren’t like anything that Hiddleston’s Loki can do.

She is able to control people’s minds and when she uses her magic it’s green – just like Enchantress in the comics.

However, then Episode 3 dropped and it seems to suggest that this version of Sylvie is actually a female version of Loki.

That said, Sylvie is remaining pretty tight-lipped about her past.

Her powers are very close to that of Enchantress in the comics, and it seems as though officially her character’s name is Sylvie Laufeydottir

What does this all mean?

Well, I think that what Marvel has ended up doing is blend two characters together.

There is a Lady Loki in the comics and there is also a Sylvie (aka Enchantress).

They have sort of put them together to create a sort of hybrid characters.

Her powers are very much like Enchantress and she shares the same first name, however, she is also a Loki variant.

Perhaps, what will happen is that this Loki variant will end up becoming Enchantress in the MCU.

In Episode 3, she seemed pretty adamant that she wanted to be called Sylvie and not Loki.

So, perhaps she’s adopting a new persona.

She doesn’t want to be known as a variant of the God of Mischief.

This wouldn’t be the first time Marvel Studios has done something like this.

And, she’s also clearly a variant of Loki, but one’s that’s been on the run for quite some time.

The first three episodes of Loki are available to watch on Disney Plus right now.
