Wednesday Season 2 is almost all but confirmed for Netflix, and one of the stars of the show’s first season, Gwendoline Christie, has teased that she could be returning for the second season. She revealed this during a recent interview with Digital Spy, and I have to say, I really hope she does return as Principle Weems because she was brilliant in the role.
That said, before we get into the weeds of this story, I have to warn you that there are MAJOR SPOILERS for Wednesday Season 1 coming up in the article. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Will Gwendoline Christie return for Wednesday Season 2?

OK, now we’ve got all that nonsense out of the way, we can now really talk about what happened towards the end of the first season. So, Christie’s Principle Weems was injected with a lethal dose of Nightshade by Christina Ricci’s character, Marylin Thornhill. They certainly made it look like Principle Weems had kicked the proverbial bucket. However, it seems as though there might be a twist in the character’s tale.
Here’s what Gwendoline Christie had to say when Digital Spy asked her whether we might get to see her turn up in the second season (which hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we’ve been informed that it’s already being discussed at Netflix):
We haven’t seen her put in the ground, have we? I feel like Larissa Weems would not really be prepared to entertain or be dominated by anything as commonplace as death.
We need to see more of Principle Weems!

The former Game of Thrones and Star Wars star also spoke about her character’s actions, which ultimately led to her *apparent* demise. Here’s what she had to say:
I think that Larissa is doing her best to be embracing of the world as a whole. I think she’s taken that chance, and it’s unfortunate that it has ended up leading to her demise. But I feel like she thinks it’s better to take the chance than not to take the chance. I think she feels that to take a stab at an idealistic world is better than to exist in isolation.
She is very firmly cemented in her outsider status. Due to that, she has a healthy disregard and suspicion for normies and those in the normie world. I think she’s also intelligent enough to know that she wants to develop a harmonious relationship between the outcasts at Nevermore and the normies, because she understands that she wants the community to be integrated.
Who else could return for Wednesday Season 2?

Honestly, I’m unsure whether she will return for a second season. I truly hope she does because I thought that Christie was note-perfect in the first season, and she has an incredible on-screen presence which was difficult to match. However, it must be said that Jenna Ortega matched it as the titular character, Wednesday Addams.
Now, we must wait for Netflix to announce that the second season is officially renewed. I feel it won’t take the streaming platform too long to make it public. The first season saw Tim Burton direct four of its eight episodes, and I would love to see him return to helm more in the second season.
Whatever happens, Burton will definitely be on board as an executive producer. That said, I would love to see him sink his teeth into this spooky world he helped create in the first season. As for the rest of the cast, I’m sure that we’ll get to see more of Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and Luiz Guzmán as Gomez Addams. I would also love to see more of Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. He was brilliant in the role.
