It’s being reported that the upcoming Disney Plus Marvel Studios series, WandaVision, will introduce mutants into the MCU. This comes from Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton who says that his sources have informed him that Wanda Maximoff will learn that she’s a mutant in the series.
According to Sutton, the upcoming Marvel Studios series will see Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff (a.k.a. Scarlett Witch) discover that she and her brother Quicksilver are actually mutants. This is, of course, what they are in the comics. However, Marvel Studios hasn’t been able to use the term up until recently.
Before now, 20th Century Fox owned the movie rights to Marvel’s mutant characters, which is why they were the ones making X-Men movies, and not Marvel Studios. However, Marvel did have the rights to some mutant characters left, but they couldn’t refer to them as “mutants”. That was a strictly 20th Century Fox thing.

However, Disney recently acquired 20th Century Fox, along with all the movie rights they owned. This meant that the likes of the X-Men and the Fantastic Four were now back under Marvel Studios’ control.
They can also now use the term “mutant” in their movies and TV shows. According to Mikey Sutton’s sources, WandaVision will be the first time the term is used in the MCU. I’m pretty sure fans are really excited to see what Marvel Studios does with the likes of the X-Men and their other mutant characters moving forward.
