It’s been revealed that WandaVision’s director, Matt Shakman, is going to be directing a new Star Trek movie for Paramount Pictures.
This news comes to us from Deadline and it sounds pretty interesting to me.
It was also revealed that this new Star Trek film will be penned by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
This means that this Star Trek film will be the first one to be written by female screenwriters.
It comes after scripts for Star Trek films were written by The Revenant‘s Mark L. Smith (for Quentin Tarantino) and another by Noah Hawley.
Neither movie ended up being made, and I was really looking forward to seeing what Noah Hawley could do with a Trek film.

I am still upset that we’re not going to get to see Noah Hawley’s Star Trek film.
He recently revealed that his Trek film was going to be very different from the ones before it.
There was also Quentin Tarantino’s Trek script, which J.J. Abrams apparently loved.
This new Star Trek film is going to be produced by Abrams’ Bad Robot.
This all comes after Matt Shakman’s WandaVision series was nominated for 23 Emmys, which is very impressive.
