Walter Hamada has left the building! Yep! He is no longer DC Films President, and I think I can hear many DC fans breathe a big sigh of relief. Now, I don’t personally have anything against Hamada. However, many DC fans out there believe that he was the cause of many of the issues with the recent crop of DC Comics movies. He was also namedropped by former DCEU stars – well, one star, Ray Fisher – as being an ‘enabler’ in Joss Whedon’s terrible behaviour towards the Justice League movie’s cast and crew.
The news that Hamada is no longer the President of DC Films comes to us via Deadline. They are reporting that he has left the company and that there is no successor in place yet. However, the report also states that the executive is currently waiting for the senior Warner Bros Discovery brass to finalise his exit payout. So, Hamada wants his money. I can’t blame him there, to be honest with you.

It seems as though Warner Bros Discovery’s CEO, David Zaslav, knew that he wanted Hamada out from the minute he took control of the studio. Hamada will be the fifth Warner Bros motion picture studio executive to leave since Zaslav took the reins. Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich, President of Production and Development Courtenay Valenti, Motion Picture Group COO Carolyn Blackwood, and Animation Group EVP Allison Abbate have all left the company since Zaslav has been in charge.
So, it’s really a case of out with the old and in with the new. Even Dwayne Johnson was quick to thank the new leadership at Warner Bros Discovery when Black Adam was released. It was actually revealed that Hamada didn’t even attend the movie’s premiere even though he’s an executive producer on the film. That is very strange indeed.
Zaslav was cancelling all his DC Films projects

Zaslav quickly cancelled almost all the projects that Hamada had greenlit. He cancelled the Batgirl movie, The Wonder Twins film. The Trench was cancelled pretty early on. The Hour Man film was scrapped. It’s even been revealed that the Zatana project is basically cancelled. It’s actually being shopped around other studios. Zaslav just seemed very uninterested in all of Hamada’s projects and capped them in favour of bigger blockbusters movies, such as the upcoming Superman movie that will star Henry Cavill.
There have also been reports that The Batman 2 is happening, The Flash 2’s script has been finished, Wonder Woman 3’s script is almost done, and it’s also been rumoured that Zaslav has given the go-ahead to a Trinity movie, which sounds awesome!
