The new Venom trailer is out and it shows us all what we wanted to see: Tom Hady’s Eddie Brock transform into Venom, and he looks very creepy. Check the trailer out here.
The first Venom trailer left a lot to be desired, chief among which was an actual look at Venom. However, the second trailer certainly delivers on that front, and I have to say that this movie’s Venom looks suitably creepy and is fitted with shark-like teeth that will give even the hardest of us nightmares. The Venom movie is a bit of an odd one because it’s not officially part of the MCU, yet it is taking place in the same universe as Spider-Man: Homecoming. We have heard reports that Tom Holland shot a scene or two for this movie, so his Spider-Man or Peter Parker might end up turning in this movie, but nothing specific yet.
This trailer sells Venom as an origins story. It’ll show us how Eddie Brock and the alien symbiote (incidentally, I’m pretty sure they say symbiote wrong in this trailer) fused together and eventually became the anti-hero we all love so dearly. Venom’s an interesting character in the comics. He skirts the line between good and evil. You can’t call him a hero, nor a villain. He’s an anti-hero. Although, in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 he was most definitely a fully fledged villain.
After having seen him as Eddie Brock in the trailer, I have a feeling that Tom Hardy will be great in the role, and I do like Venom’s character design. However, I can’t help but think that the film will end up being a pretty standard comic book action movie, especially since it’s going to be yet another origins story. Hopefully, I’m wrong, and it won’t end up being the Fantastic Four of 2018, but I’ve got a bad feeling about this one.
That said, what do you think about Venom’s trailer and do you like the look they’re going for with the creepy alien symbiote/human anti-hero? Let us know in the comments below.
