Deadpool 3 gets even more promising as it now confirms bringing back Morena Baccarin as Vanessa and Stefan Kapicic as Colossus. The mutants are definitely in the MCU by the time the third movie of the Merc with a Mouth comes to theatres. And the crowd goes wild!
Years after Deadpool 2, lead star Ryan Reynolds officially announced the development of the third movie. It is to be the first under the franchise to be done after the Fox-Disney merger. Somehow the production had to wait for the MCU to develop its way to make Deadpool appear in its universe.
Enter the Marvel Multiverse. Thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and possibly the Disney Plus Loki series, Deadpool is about to scoot over his yellow brick road to MCU’s Earth-616.
Best of it all, Deadpool 3 comes with the formidable Hugh Jackman as Logan, Wolverine himself. Indeed, Reynolds is steadily getting everyone back into the fold.

Deadline reports that the third movie, deep in development now, has Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic back to reprise their respective roles as Vanessa and Colossus in the franchise. Leslie Uggams was the very first actor that Reynolds announced who would return for the movie as Blind Al. He also announced recently that Karan Soni would return as Dopinder, who’s become his honorary driver.
Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen will also be part of the cast for new characters in the franchise, which is still under wraps. Fans are now eagerly waiting for the official announcement of Negasonic Teenage Warhead actor Brianna Hildebrand. Hoping she would return for the threequel as well.
Back in 2019, Deadpool writer Paul Wernick said to EW:
…Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox.
Our feeling and Ryan’s feeling is that it’s got to be the right idea, it’s got to be great… I think once we collectively agree what idea that great idea is we’ll be off to the races.
Prior to the monumental announcement of Hugh Jackman actually appearing as Wolverine in the upcoming movie, returning director Shawn Levy declared that he would be the one at the helm for a movie starring him with Ryan Reynolds. Over a year ago at ComicBook, he said:
I’m not going to say where or how, but I absolutely will confirm my intention and determination to be the lucky son of a b*tch who puts those two magnificent gods in the same movie together. That will happen, and that will be me.
Who else could be in Deadpool 3?

Fast forward to these days, where Deadpool 3 truly is set to keep its R-rating. And that the right and fantastic idea is actually bringing Wolverine into Deadpool’s crazy world. So, is there also a chance that they’d bring Josh Brolin in as Cable? Maybe, Wade would get a kick out of breaking the fourth wall about him looking like that purple alien who was the big bad of the Infinity Saga.
Wernick also returns with Rhett Reese to write the script together with Zeb Wells out of a previous draft from Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will also be a producer alongside Reynolds and Levy.
Somehow, it is getting clearer that Deadpool would really end up getting the TVA’s attention. Changing so much about the past through his escapades with Cable’s abilities might have actually triggered that. With that in mind, we won’t be surprised if production announces a certain Asgardian God and lead TVA agent also becomes part of the developing story.
For now, we are celebrating the fact that Vanessa is still in Wade’s story arc and Colossus practically guarantees the mutants will be actively in the MCU sooner rather than later.
