A teaser trailer for Scary Love, a new movie starring Tommy Wiseau, has turned up online and it features the actor/writer/director exploring some hi recognisable romantic traits.
There are a lot of unusual folks in Hollywood, but they don’t get much stranger than Tommy Wiseau. It’s difficult to explain why the mysterious man is still a thing. Yet, people love him, and his career’s been on the rise recently, mainly thanks to the success of James Franco’s movie, The Disaster Artist, which tells the story of how Wiseau wrote, directed and bankrolled the best worst film of all time, The Room.
Since then, people have been clambering to interview Wiseau and hear what the enigmatic filmmaker has to say. To be honest, all that comes out of the man’s mouth is a constant stream of nonsense, but he is highly entertaining to watch. We already know that he’s going to be teaming up with his The Room co-star Greg Sestero in a new project called Best F(r)iends. Is that a euphemism for their relationship? When it comes to Wiseau, who really knows? I doubt even he understands the thoughts that go through his head.
Anyway, Wiseau’s also going to be starring in another movie called Scary Love, and we’ve got a new teaser trailer. If this trailer’s anything to go by, then Scary Love will be very much ‘un film Wiseau’. It has his name written all over it, although he didn’t direct it. That honour went to Jennifer Juniper Stratford. Stratford’s production company, Telefantasy Studios, is behind this film and they’ve “been churning out subversive content for over a decade and gardened its own cult following.” It also marks Stratford’s first ever collaboration with the “legendary filmmaker” (Wiseau’s words, not mine), Tommy Wiseau.
Scary Love seems to be channelling Blade Runner, just with added Wiseau, and that does sound like something I’d like to watch.
Here’s the film’s full synopsis:
“In a bleak Los Angeles of the future Tommy Wiseau plays a bounty hunter in search of his long lost love. But while the Wars of Cancellation have turned his city to rubble his search for love is rife with complications in a population full of mutants, freaks, and cannibals.”
If you fancy seeing a bit more of Scary Love, they’ll be a behind the scenes sneak peek at it during the premiere of Best F(r)iends on the 30th of March. What do you think of this trailer? Let us know in the comments below
