Tom Cruise To Shoot Scenes On The Moon For His Space Movie

It was announced last year that Tom Cruise was going to shoot a movie where no man (nor woman) had ever shot a movie before: in space.

He’s making this movie with Doug Liman whom he made the incredible Edge Of Tomorrow with.

It’s now been revealed that he’s not only going to shoot scenes in space – on the International Space Station (ISS) to be precise – but they’re also going to be working in tandem with NASA to shoot scenes of this upcoming movie on the Moon.

Yep, they’re sending Tom Cruise into space, but they’re going to go that step further and actually have him fly to the Moon and shoot scenes there.

It was already a huge undertaking shooting scenes in space and on the actual International Space Station, but they’re also going to be sending Tom Cruise to the Moon to shoot scenes on its surface.

This film’s budget is already around $200 million, however, these new scenes on the actual surface of the Moon will increase the film’s budget quite a bit.

Here’s what Tom Cruise had to say about this news:

We are thrilled to be working alongside SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for this movie and Elon and I thought we could take it a step further. We’re going to be shooting scenes on the actual Moon. This is going to be one giant leap for both Hollywood and space travel.

It’ll be fascinating to see how they actually go about shooting these scenes on the Moon.

This has never been done before, and I’m sure many people will be asking ‘Why not just film these Moon scenes in a studio?”.

Well, Tom had an answer for those people:

We thought long and hard about whether we should just film these scenes in a studio on Earth, yet Elon and I just thought that it would make the scenes even more believable by actually shooting them on the Moon itself. It’s never been done before, but with NASA and SpaceX’s help, we’re going to get it done, and it’s going to look awesome.

So, yes. Tom Cruise is being flown into space and will be making a movie on the Moon.

They are set to start shooting this film in space this October and it will be a Universal Studios project.

He is literally the only person in Hollywood who would even attempt to do this.
