It’s been revealed that The Witcher Seasons 4 and 5 will be shot back-to-back as Netflix tries to make this show a success despite losing its main star, Henry Cavill. Honestly, the minute it was revealed that Cavill was going to be leaving the show after Season 3, I could feel my interest in the series beyond that point evaporate.
I know it sounds silly to say, but he was the only thing keeping me interested in the show. I think he’s perfect as Geralt Of Rivia, and his passion and love for the source material really comes through in his performance.
There were lots of rumours as to why he ended up leaving the show. However, it does seem as though he and the showrunners just ended up coming to an impasse.
Cavill wanted the show to stay truer to the books, and the showrunners didn’t. It was even reported that some of the show’s writers were laughing at the original source material, which I find really hard to believe.

So, it was revealed that Cavill would be leaving after Season 3 and would be replaced by Liam Hemsworth, and Netflix is going to try and keep the show going for two more seasons beyond The Witcher Season 3.
The news that Netflix is going to try and shoot two seasons of the show back-to-back comes to us via Redianan Intelligence, who are also reporting that the show looks set to end with the fifth season.
It does sound to me as though Netflix is engaging in damage control when it comes to The Witcher. Losing such a huge star as Henry Cavill put the streamer and the show in a very difficult position.
At the moment, they are acting as though Liam Hemsworth is the perfect replacement for Cavill, but judging by the fans’ response to this bit of recasting news, he’s not. I suppose we’re just going to have to wait and see.
How will Cavill’s time on the show end?

One of the big questions I had about the upcoming season of The Witcher was how will it address Cavill’s departure. Will it just carry one afterwards as though nothing’s happened, or will they give the actor some sort of big sendoff in the show?
We still don’t really know. However, it has been reported that Cavill will have a pretty amazing final scene in the show as Geralt. It has been said that this scene will mimic a scene that author Andrzej Sapkowski wrote in his third novel in The Witcher Saga, Baptismal of Fire.
In the book, Geralt and his companions are attacked by the Hunt. During the encounter, Geralt’s medallion is struck by a blast of magic, causing it to melt and lose its magical powers. This event is a significant moment in the book, as Geralt’s medallion had been a symbol of his identity as a witcher and his connection to the magical world.
Apparently, in the post, a supporting character would loudly call to Geralt, saying “Witcher!” to which Henry Cavill’s Geralt will respond:
No, no more.
So, it sounds, to me at least, as though Cavill’s version of Geralt will get a pretty cool sendoff, which is nice to hear. It’s the least he deserves.
