The Witcher Season 2’s Release Date Revealed

The Witcher Season 2 will be landing on Netflix towards the end of 2021, and a source close to the project has revealed to us when the show’s release date will be.

According to Deadline, The Witcher Season 2 will be released towards the end of this year.

This was revealed by Netflix’s Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.

Here’s what Sarandos had to say on shows such as The Witcher Season 2 and You Season 3 having their release dates pushed to the end of 2021:

What happened in the first part of this year was that a lot of the projects that we’d hoped to come out earlier did get pushed because of the post-production delays and Covid delays and we think we’ll get back to a much steadier state in the back half of the year, certainly in Q4 where we have the returning seasons of some of our most popular shows like The Witcher and You and Cobra Kai as well as some big tentpole movies that came to market a little slower than we’d hoped like Red Notice and Escape From Spiderhead.

The Witcher Season 2 started production way back in February 2020, but filming kept on having to stop due to the pandemic.

It’s the same story with You Season 2 and many other Netflix shows.

Then there was Henry Cavill’s injury which put an extra delay on The Witcher Season 2’s release date.

The show finally finished filming earlier this month and it’s now in post-production, which is good news for the show and for the fans.

This means that the show’s release date will be sooner rather than later.

As it stands, the show’s being penciled in for a December 2021 release.

However, we’ve been told that due to the congestion that Netflix is seeing towards the end of 2021, they might opt to push the release date to January 2022.

Here’s what our source had to say about The Witcher Season 2’s release date on Netflix:

We are working towards an end of December release date. The thing is, there are so many other shows also scheduled for release in that month, and things could be moved around a bit.

Our source then went on to add:

For now, we’re looking at an end of December release date for season 2, but that could get moved to early Jan. 2022. Post should go smoothly and it should be done by then. It’s just a matter of scheduling and not having too many things come out at once.

So, it sounds as though the people working on the series are aiming for an end of December release.

However, Q4 does end on December 31st, 2021. So, I’m guessing that they might end up releasing on that date, which is a Friday, so it does seem to line up.

Our source did say that the release could be pushed into January.

That said, I highly doubt they would want to push the release date beyond January 2022.

Therefore, The Witcher fans should be looking forward to seeing the second season of the show sooner rather than later.

December actually isn’t that far away now.
