It’s been revealed that The Sandman Season 2 won’t be released on Netflix until 2025. I’m hoping that it’ll end up being released earlier in 2025 because it’s a long time to wait for the series’ second season.
The first season ended up being one of the best shows to be released on Netflix in 2022. I would argue that it was the best Netflix original to come out last year.
Personally, I loved the series, and I also really liked the fact that the comic books’ creator, Neil Gaiman, was heavily involved in the production. I think that it really shows in the final product.

So, according to Migard Times, the show’s second season is expected to start filming on June 20th, 2023. They added that the second season of the Netflix series is going to be filmed in the United Kingdom at Shepperton Studios, which is in Surrey, not too far away from London.
According to their report, the first part of filming is scheduled to wrap up in October 2023. They added that the production is then due to take a short break and start again in January 2024. According to their report, they are scheduled to shoot for another three months and will officially wrap up production in April 2024.
The series will then be in post-production, and the first season took more than a year in post, so it’s safe to assume that The Sandman Season 2 will spend about the same time in post. All of this means that the show’s second season won’t be released on Netflix until Spring 2025.

So, unfortunately, we shouldn’t expect to see The Sandman Season 2 end up on Netflix in 2023 or 2024. I will say that it does seem as though the show is going to take a rather long time to shoot. That might be normal for Netflix, but I haven’t heard of a series taking so long to film.
Could they be filming two seasons back-to-back? Maybe, but there have been no reports suggesting that Netflix is looking to shoot two seasons at the same time. I haven’t heard anything about The Sandman Season 3 having been given the greenlight by Netflix.
However, what they could be doing is planning on filming more episodes for Season 2 than they did for the first season. They did end up releasing two extra episodes after the initial episodes of the first season of the show were released on Netflix. Maybe they could be doing something similar for Season 2.
Allan Heinberg will return as showrunner along with Jamie Childs as a director. Iain Smith, David S. Goyer, Neil Gaiman, Andrew Cholerton, Samson Mucke, and Alexander Newman-Wise are all executive producers on the show. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and The Blank Corporation along with Phantom Four for Netflix.
We still don’t have an official release date for The Sandman Season 2. You can watch the show’s first season on Netflix right now.
