Something I’ve wanted to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (the official one) for ages is at least a The Punisher cameo involving Jon Bernthal.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Marvel Netflix TV shows, yet I loved Bernthal as The Punisher.
I really do believe there’s nobody more suited to the role.
Bernthal showed his versatility in the role and I really wanted to see more of him.
There were rumours that Bernthal was going to be joining the MCU in the future.
However, The Russo Brothers might have spoiled that with their movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
During an interview made back in 2014, Joe Russo made a passing comment about one of the characters in that movie.
He spoke about a truck driver in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and he sure made it sound as if that was The Punisher.
Sounds like Bernthal won’t be the MCU’s Punisher after all

He told ComingSoon.com the following:
The man who drives that truck is very highly trained. He thinks on his own terms. He’s got a plan and a very specific skill set.
This really does make it sound that he’s saying the man driving the truck is indeed The Punisher.
This would make him the MCU version of The Punisher because the Marvel Netflix TV shows are basically no longer canon.
I mean, they’re no longer canon as far as Kevin Feige is concerned.
That basically means all the people hoping to see the likes of Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal turn up as Daredevil and The Punisher can keep on dreaming.
This has really bummed me out. Are you just as annoyed to hear that The Punisher might have already made an MCU appearance and it wasn’t Bernthal’s version?
