WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE MANDALORIAN SEASON 2’s FINALE EPISODE IN THIS ARTICLE!
Right, so The Mandalorian Season 2’s finale aired today, and it was an incredible episode. It was easily one of the best episodes of this show so far, and I think it’s made a lot of Star Wars fans very happy indeed. One of the main reasons why this episode has made fans so happy is because of the return of a beloved Star Wars character. I’ll wait another few lines to tell you which character I’m talking about.
OK. I think I’ve warned you enough by now. So, the character in question is Luke Skywalker. He turns up at the very end of the episode and his introduction is both a bit of deus ex machina and pure genius. He turns up in his X-Wing, and then tears through a whole brigade of Dark Troopers like they were Swiss cheese. This is made even more incredible by the fact that just a few minutes before we saw the difficulty Din Djarin had defeating a single Dark Trooper.
It was also made incredibly special by the sheer look of terror in Moff Gideon’s eyes. He takes a gun and first tries to kill Grogu, and when that fails, he turns the weapon on himself and then also fails at that, thanks to Cara Dune’s quick reactions. Moff Gideon knew who was coming the minute he saw the X-Wing, and that just made the whole thing even cooler.

So, this episode was both an incredible finale to what has been a brilliant season of The Mandalorian. But, it was also a love letter to the fans of Star Wars. Fans of the franchise have been dying to see Luke Skywalker strut his stuff since The Return of the Jedi. They were hoping to see this in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. However, they didn’t quite get the epic final battle they wanted to see.
This was the first time we’ve really seen Luke Skywalker use his incredible Force and lightsaber skills, and it was pretty epic. It was also heartbreaking, because he was coming for Grogu, and it was very emotional to see the little green guy say goodbye to Din Djarin. I really hope the two of them will meet again at some point in the show. There is a The Mandalorian Season 3 coming on Christmas Day, 2021, so we have that to look forward to.
