The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Release Date, Story & More

The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom was announced earlier today by Nintendo during their Nintendo Direct. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to see as much of the game as we did at the event because Nintendo has been playing very coy with the upcoming sequel to Breath Of The Wild. But, what they did was show us some gameplay, and they also revealed the video game’s official release date on the Switch!

The video game will be a direct sequel to Breath Of The Wild. This will be the first time this has been done, I believe, since Majora’s Mask, which was a sort of direct sequel to The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. Please correct me if I got that one wrong, but I do think I’m right about that.

These games are among some of the world’s best video games ever made, and I would argue that Breath Of The Wild is the best of all of them. I know that many fans will disagree with me on that one, but it was truly unlike any Zelda game before it, and I love it to bits. That said, I also truly and deeply love Wind Waker, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Anyway, let’s talk about Tears Of The Kingdom’s release date, which was revealed at the very end of this new Nintendo Direct. The video game is going to be available to buy for your Nintendo Switches from May 12th, 2023! That’s actually not all that far away. I know that the game was originally supposed to be released in 2021, but then the pandemic hit and it was severely delayed.

That seems to be a pretty common occurrence with many of the video games, TV shows and movies we’ve all been dying to see. Anyway, before now, Nintendo had said that they didn’t want to reveal the game’s name because it “might give away too much,” as Nintendo put it. I’m not sure whether Tears Of The Kingdom is giving too much away, apart from the fact that this game is probably going to be a bit of a tear-jerker.

What could the game’s story be?

What about the game’s story, you ask!? Yes, I know. This is something that I wanted to know a little bit more about also. Well, the story of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is being kept under wraps. It’s being shrouded in mystery one might say. However, we do know that it’s going to be a direct sequel to Breath Of The Wild, which means that some of that game’s story beats might reemerge in this game. In other words, we should expect Tears Of The Kingdom to pick up where Breath Of The Wild ended.

I actually think that’s pretty exciting in its own right. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game. May is a really good time to release a video game because it’s right before summer, and one of the things I love doing during the summer month is playing some games whilst I’m on the beach taking some well-earned time off.

Is there a trailer for The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom?

And, is there a trailer for The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom? Yes, there is. Nintendo released the snippet of gameplay they showed during their Nintendo Direct event as its own video on YouTube. You can check it out for yourselves above. Honestly, this trailer, even though it doesn’t really show all that much, has been very, very hyped to see what’s in store for us. They’ve been working on this game for a long time. They’ve kept on pushing the release date because they know that they need to take all their time with this one because it’s crucial it be as good as it possibly can be.

As Nintendo legend, Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Zelda, Mario and Pikmin, (reportedly) once said: “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” This game cannot be bad, and something tells me that we’re all going to be blown away by it, just like we were with Breath Of The Wild.
