Film critic Jeff Sneider revealed on an episode of The Hot Mic Podcast that Universal is on the brink of closing a “big deal” with Nintendo to bring The Legend of Zelda to the big screen. He mentioned that due to the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was a massive hit at the box office worldwide, Nintendo recognises its worth, and thus the Zelda movie is going to cost Universal a substantial amount.
This new venture is not too surprising considering that during the press rounds for the Mario Movie, creator Shigeru Miyamoto hinted that fans could expect to see more Nintendo movies in the future. He referred to Nintendo as a “talent agency” with “plenty of other entertainers”.
