The very first trailer for Netflix’s The Irishman has hit the Internet, and it looks like Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino are well and truly back in the gangster frame of mind.
The Irishman has been a long time coming. Martin Scorsese has been working on this picture for what seems like forever. However, it’s almost upon us and the film will be released both on Netflix and selected cinemas.
The upcoming film now has its very first trailer, and it really doesn’t disappoint. The Irishman will see Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci all back in action in a gangster movie, which is exactly where they belong.
If that cast and the fact that Scorsese is directing doesn’t get you excited, then I really don’t know what will get your film buff juices flowing.
Judging by The Irishman’s trailer this will be more in line with Scorsese’s earlier films such as Mean Streets, Taxi Driver and Goodfellas. There’s even more than a hint of Casino in there.
It hasn’t even come out yet and there’s already talk of Oscars, and it looks like this year will be an interesting one. People are talking about Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood as an Oscars contender. There’s even talk of Joker being up for awards in 2020, which would really be something to behold.
The Irishman is based on a book by Charles Brandt in which a mob hitman recalls his possible involvement with the slaying of Jimmy Hoffa.
Robert De Niro will be playing this hitman, Frank Sheeran, and Al Pacino will be playing Hoffa. Then we have the return of Joe Pesci as Russell Bufalino.
I really cannot wait to see this one, and it’s not that far off. It really does feel like we’ve been waiting a long long time for this film.
Meanwhile, why not watch the recent trailer of Robert Eggers’ upcoming horror flick, The Lighthouse, which stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. It looks pretty darn scary.

In the meantime, why not rewatch some of Martin Scorsese’s previous films, which you can purchase here!
The Irishman will be available to stream on Netflix towards the end of September.
