The Haunting Of Bly Manor has landed on Netflix and fans of the show are already asking themselves when the sequel’s release date will be.
Netflix released their new horror show, The Haunting Of Bly Manor, just in time for Halloween.
It’s been scaring viewers all over the world, and yet people still want more.
The first ‘season’ of the show was called The Haunting Of Hill House.
That was based on a book of the same name by Shirley Jackson.
This new season of the show is based on Henry James’ The Turn Of The Screw and it features a number of the same cast as the first season.
This show is Mike Flanagan’s baby as he’s the one who created and wrote most of the first two seasons.
It’s a really great show as far as I’m concerned, yet I did have some issues with this second season.
It takes Henry James’ story as its backbone – like The Haunting Of Hill House did with Jackson’s book.
Rather than going for the more gothic horror setting of the book, this Netflix series opted to set it in the early 80s.
Will we even get a The Haunting of Bly Manor sequel?

This was probably my biggest issue with this new season.
I really think it would have benefitted from the more gothic horror setting of the book.
I also had an issue with some of the really poor English accents on show here.
It’s tough for many of the actors involved because they are American.
And we all know now that Americans just cannot do British accents.
Apart from that, I felt it was a really accomplished take on the book, and I really enjoyed the spooky atmosphere.
There were also fewer jump scares than in the first season, which I both appreciated because it made us focus more on the characters, but also missed.
I do love a good jump scare and The Haunting Of Hill House was full of them.
As far as a sequel to The Haunting Of Bly Manor is concerned, I’m not sure they’ll do it.
James’ book is a novella and not very long.
They basically did the whole thing in this season and there’s not much else to explore as far as this story’s concerned.
Yet, this doesn’t mean there won’t be another season in this ‘Haunting’ series on Netflix.
I’m pretty sure they’ve already thought of which ghost stories they can adapt next.

So, with this in mind, when could The Haunting Of Bly Manor’s sequel be released?
When will Netflix reveal its release date?
This is not an easy question to answer because of the current global climate.
The pandemic has meant that things have been put on hold.
This includes Netflix productions, so they’re going to have to wait until we’ve made it through this pandemic.
However, I would expect to see The Haunting Of Hill House Season 3 in 2022.
Perhaps near the end of 2022, which will give them more time to shoot and edit the show.
However, this extra time means that Mike Flanagan can spend even more time working on the script.
That would be very good news as far as I’m concerned.
However, there’s also the question which I hinted at earlier: which ghost story can they adapt next?
Which horror novel could they adapt next?

The one that comes to mind first is The Woman In Black.
The Woman In Black was written by Susan Hill and is one of the best ghost stories I’ve ever read.
It also features a really creepy English manor on a really creepy and treacherous causeway.
The manor is called Eel Marsh House and I think The Haunting Of Early Marsh House has a really good ring to it.
Now that I think of it, they have to adapt this brilliant story.
The only issue is that Netflix might find it tough to get the rights to the story.
It was relatively recently made into a movie starring Daniel Craig by Hammer Films.
Hopefully, Netflix can get its hands on the story’s rights and them Mike Flanagan can work his magic on the incredibly spooky tale.
