DC’s The Flash Director Andy Muschietti has already admitted that there were plans for cameos, but many of them were scrapped. However, the director is excited to reveal one cameo that many fans have been wondering about.
Despite the negative press surrounding Ezra Miller, there is still much hype surrounding the upcoming DC film, The Flash. Many fans are excited to see Michael Keaton return as Batman from the Tim Burton films, as well as the return of Michael Shannon’s General Zod and Antje Traue’s Faora-Ul from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The film will also feature Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Ben Affleck as the DCEU Batman, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred.
Because the film will be dealing with the multiverse, some fans are hoping for more cameos than what has been announced. Director Andy Muschietti has revealed that a number of planned cameos were removed, including Grant Gustin’s Flash, Marlon Brando’s Jor-El, Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman, Cesar Romero’s Joker, and Burgess Meredith’s Penguin.
It is difficult to say who will remain in the final cut, but one cameo that even the director couldn’t wait to tell is now told.

In an interview with Esquire Middle East, the director tells the outlet that Nicolas Cage did a cameo in The Flash, saying:
Nic was absolutely wonderful. Although the role was a cameo, he dove into it… I dreamt all my life to work with him. I hope I can work with him again soon. He is a massive Superman fan. A comic book fanatic.
Cage will be playing Superman in a cameo role. This is a dream come true for many fans, as the Ghost Rider actor was initially cast as Superman in Tim Burton’s Superman Lives before the film was cancelled.
It’s no secret that Cage was supposed to star as the Man of Steel back in the mid to late 90s. The film would be based on The Death of Superman, where Superman was killed by Doomsday. It was rumoured that it would have also featured Christopher Walken as Brainiac.
The film would have also featured the new Superman suit, which was all electrical and also featured some new powers Superman had when he got resurrected. These were powers that were heavily featured in the comics.

Nicolas Cage has always been a devoted fan of Superman. At one point, he even owned an original copy of Superman’s first appearance in Action Comics No. 1. He went so far as to name his son Kal-El, which is Superman’s Kryptonian name.
The opportunity for Cage to portray the iconic Man of Steel is not only something he eagerly anticipated but also something many fans were excited to witness.
Previously, I speculated that The Flash might utilize old footage of Cage wearing the Superman suit. However, learning that he actually filmed new scenes for the movie has increased my excitement.
The impact of Nicolas Cage’s cameo in the film remains to be seen. Will his appearance have a significant influence on The Flash? Nonetheless, my eagerness to see the movie has only grown stronger. Most of the people who have seen the movie in its entirety, Tom Cruise included, have nothing but positive things to say about the Scarlet Speedster’s movie.
I wonder if Cage’s involvement in the movie bears weight in Barry Allen’s journey on the big screen. What do you think of Nicolas Cage being confirmed to be playing Superman in The Flash? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
