When it comes to the world of cinema, very few voices carry as much weight as that of the indomitable Tom Cruise. The Top Gun: Maverick actor, known for his high-octane performances and incredible dedication to his craft, has now given his hearty seal of approval to the latest DC blockbuster, The Flash.
There had been some claims that Cruise was allowed to watch the final cut of the film months before anybody else, and it was reported that he loved the picture. Turns out, those reports were spot on the money.

In an unexpected turn of events, Cruise – a titan of the box office – managed to catch an early screening of The Flash and was so impressed that he felt compelled to call director Andy Muschietti directly to express his admiration for the film.
The call reportedly came “out of the blue” and consisted of Cruise extolling the virtues of the movie, even going so far as to say that it was “everything you want in a movie”. This was revealed by Muschietti during a recent interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar).

The Muschietti siblings, director Andy and producer Barbara, were understandably thrilled to receive such high praise from a seasoned actor like Cruise, particularly given that he had no vested interest in the project.
The Muschietti team confirmed that the surprise endorsement from Cruise served as a major confidence boost, with Andy stating that the call from Cruise gave them “more confidence in the thing that we did” since the film had already been finished by the time Cruise saw it.
Barbara echoed her brother’s sentiments, stating that in a cynical industry, “to hear people that really have no skin in the game, because they have nothing to gain, just say something that lovely – in the case of Tom Cruise, he called us, talked for 15 minutes, praising Andy, praising the film, and it just feels very good because we really work very hard to make these movies”.

The Flash is currently running in select private and exclusive theatres, with the global release date set for 16th June. The film has been met with significant anticipation, and is expected to break records upon its global release.
The movie dives into the intriguing concept of the multiverse, offering fans a chance to see Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in a fresh new context. With the film already receiving such high praise from a veteran of Cruise’s calibre, fans of the franchise are all the more excited to see what The Flash has in store for them.
Receiving approval from an accomplished actor like Tom Cruise is undoubtedly a significant accomplishment for the Muschietti team and The Flash. Cruise, despite starring in numerous blockbuster hits, has never had the chance to portray a superhero himself, making his endorsement all the more meaningful.
His enthusiastic response to the film serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication that went into its creation, and stands as a beacon of hope for DC fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release. As the anticipation for The Flash continues to build, it seems that the film is set to exceed expectations, thanks in no small part to the surprise endorsement from Cruise himself.
