The Brave and the Bold will introduce the DCU’s Batman featuring him and his son Damien Wayne according to James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Across major entertainment sites, Deadline posts the initial plans from the Co-CEOs at the same time, Gunn himself posted a 6-minute video on his Twitter account for the lineup of titles.
The upcoming movie belongs to the first part of DC Slate Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. Apart from the existing Batman universe from Matt Reeves and the Jokerverse of Todd Phillips, this new movie brings the complex father-and-son dynamic of Bruce and Damien. Of course, Bruce’s son is Batman’s Robin.

In Gunn’s video, he describes:
It is the story of Batman and his actual son Damien Wayne. This is based on Grant Morrison’s great comic book run. Damien Wayne is my favorite Robin. He’s a little assassin who Batman tries to get in line. So this is the story of the two of them and the beginning of …sort of… the Bat Family in the DCU.
In the article, Gunn bills Damien as:
…who is a little son of a bitch. Assassin, murderer who Batman takes on, who is Batman’s actual son that he doesn’t know exists for the first 8-10 years of his life….it’s a strange father and son story about the two of them…
People need not worry about the DCU Batman clashing with the universe that Reeves has created. The latter, which still has its sequel script in development, belongs under the DC Elseworlds label.
However, Gunn and Safran will be balancing out the eventually finished story of Reeves’ Batman sequel with the new DCU version. It’s important to note that Reeves’s sequel to his Caped Crusader is on track for a release on October 3, 2025.

The DCU Dark Knight will have a different actor that they have yet to announce. Taking the first steps to bring the Bat Family into the spotlight is something exciting for me.
No other live-action adaptation has featured that part of Bruce Wayne’s life, let alone his alter-vigilante-ego. More than a ward, Damien is his actual son. His blood.
