The Boys Season 2 has just come to an end on Amazon Prime Video, and it’s easily one of our favourite shows of 2020. But, now fans are looking forward to The Boys Season 3 and they want to know when the show will be released on Amazon Prime Video. So, I decided to do some digging and try to answer that question for you guys.
It was already announced by Amazon that The Boys would be getting a Season 3 before Season 2 even aired. That just showed how confident Amazon is in their new hit superheroes-gone-bad TV show. They really should be confident in it because Season 2 was bloody brilliant. (It was also pretty violent).
The final episode of The Boys Season 2 was incredible and really set people up for a third season, so it’s no wonder that people are desperately searching for when Season 3 of The Boys will be released on Amazon Prime Video. Anyway, I’ve been digging into when Amazon Prime Video might release the third season, however, there’s not much to go on.

One of the main reasons why it’s not so clear when Season 3 of The Boys will be release is due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. It’s really made things very uncertain. However, it also seems as though Amazon isn’t letting the pandemic stop them from getting movies and TV shows filmed.
That said, Amazon will want to get started on Season 3 as soon as possible. One of the things they have to make sure of is that the set of The Boys and all their other movies and TV shows are as safe as possible for the cast and crew. That’s the hardest thing to ensure as far as these shows are concerned.
Disney, Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios have managed to find a way to make sure they can have a safe set. They’re filming a lot of their upcoming shows using a new technology which allows them to film everything inside a closed set.
This new filming technic is actually an evolution of a technique that’s been in use for nearly a century in one form or another. They use special screens which display a live image behind the actors. The screens are so incredibly detailed that it looks like the actor is really in a desert or wherever he or she is supposed to be.
The Boys Season 3’s release date could be sooner than we think, hopefully…

The issue with The Boys is that they might not be able to use this new technology. One of the big things about the show is that they try to make everything as practical as possible. It’s also filled in multiple locations, which means that they can’t really use this sort of new technology which is used on shows such as The Mandalorian.
This will make it harder for them to get things moving as far as filming the new season of The Boys is concerned. Therefore, before the pandemic took hold of the entire world, I would have said that the next season of The Boys would be coming sometime in 2021.
However, now that filming is being pushed back, I would say that The Boys Season 3’s release date won’t be until 2022. That means that we’ve got a bit of a wait on our hands for Season 3 of The Boys. I would expect to see The Boys Season 3 be released on Amazon Prime Video towards the beginning of 2022.

Chatting at Comic-Con: At Home back in July of this year, The Boys’ executive producer Seth Rogen said the following:
Because this show has fans and it is watched by people like you, they have decided to renew it. So, if you like The Boys, you’ve got more of it. Thank God.
The Boys’ Season 3’s release date really depends on when filming can kick-off. This is something that not even Seth Rogen seemed to know when he was talking during the Comic-Con: At Home panel earlier this year. He said: “It’s anyone’s guess,” when asked what the timeline was looking like. “Hopefully some time this decade.”
But you’ll be pleased to hear that showrunner Eric Kripke and the rest of the team are already “hard at work in the (virtual) writers’ room”, Rogen revealed. He then added: “We’re sad to say, the world has given us way too much material. We hope to be shooting in early 2021, but that’s up to a microscopic virus.”

As far as what might happen in The Boys Season 3, your guess is as good as mine. I’m hoping they might introduce some new ‘superheroes’ and that The Boys’ gang might also get a few new members. I’m pretty sure they might end up going bigger for The Boys Season 3.
Amazon knows it has a real winner on its hands with The Boys. They’ve already seen viewing numbers for Season 2 go up drastically. This was mainly due to the fact that the show got better.
However, it’s also due to the fact that Amazon opted to release new episodes weekly. This only increased viewers’ anticipation to watch the next episode. That, in turn, increased word of mouth and more people started watching Amazon’s hit show.
