The Batman’s Matt Reeves Shot Fake Scenes With Barry Keoghan

It’s been revealed that Matt Reeves filmed fake scenes with Barry Keoghan on The Batman’s set in order to ‘tick’ or ‘surprise’ people.

Now, I will not go into why he might want to trick or surprise people regarding Barry Keoghan’s performance in DC Films’ The Batman.

Before I continue, there will be SPOILERS for The Batman in this article.

Matt Reeves spoke about this during an interview with IGN.

Here’s what he had to say about these fake scenes that he shot with Barry Keoghan on the set of The Batman.

When asked if Warner Bros Pictures was doing everything to make it look as if Barry Keoghan was playing Stanley Merkel, director Matt Reeves said: “Yes, that was the point.”

He continued:

When you’re making a movie like this, you want it to be different, you want people to feel like they’re having a special experience,” he continued. “And then for me, when you’re going to the cinema you want some level of surprise. I think one of the things I was worried about was speculation while we were making the movie, that we would be exploring the character that we ended up exploring. So we started thinking what we could do to throw people off that scent. This idea of making him Stanley Merkel was exactly that, because the police force is actually a big part of the story so it seemed credible that we could be doing that.
