Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s bloopers reel is here, and in amongst all the laughing, we have Sylvester Stallone desperately trying to say the word, “Ravagers”.
“Ravager? Ravengers? (…) Raveger? What am I saying?” It’s ‘Ravager’ Sylvester! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was chocked full of laughs, great music, brilliant action sequences, and brilliant cameos, including a brief appearance from Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone. He plays Stakar Ogord, who is a respected leader of the Ravagers, although in the comics he becomes the hero know as Starhawk, yet I’m not sure whether he’ll be going down that route in the MCU.
If the film’s post-credits scene suggested anything, it was that Stallone’s Ogord will be leading another team of legendary Ravagers (including the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Ving Rhames, and the voices of Miley Cyrus and Michael Rosenblaum) and will go on missions of their own and may potentially play a part in defeating Thanos… But that’s just pure speculation.
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we got a little taste of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s bloopers reel and it’s full of the on-set shenanigans that we all love the see: people fluffing their lines, getting angry, laughing, lots of laughing… However, the one thing that stuck out to me, apart from how cool Kurt Russell is, was Sylvester Stallone not being able to say the word ‘Ravagers’. He goes through a whole slew of different variations until he basically gives up on it all together.
Sylvester is probably not the world’s foremost authority on Marvel Comics lore and therefore naturally will not know how to pronounce every single word in the script perfectly, but there’s a beautiful irony in witnessing the man who’s playing one of the most respected leaders of the group known as the Ravagers struggling to say their name.
This bloopers reel also shows Michael Rooker’s Yondu saying the Mary Poppins line on-set, which was apparently improvised. It ended up being one of the funniest lines in the movie. See what happens when you create a friendly and open working environment – cinema gold in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s case.
This bloopers reel will be included as bonus a feature when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released digitally in HD, 4K Ultra HD on August 8th and physically on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD August 22nd.
