David Ayer’s Suicide Squad wasn’t the most well-received comic book movie of all time. That’s really putting it lightly. The film was panned by critics and many comic book movie fans thought it was a load of rubbish (myself included), and I’m glad that James Gunn is making a reboot.
However, I’m much more upbeat about James Gunn’s Suicide Squad ‘reboot’. I’m using the term reboot rather loosely here because it is a bit of a sequel and a bit of a reboot.
It’s a ‘seqboot’, which is a new thing. The reason it’s a bit of both is because they are basically starting from scratch with this movie, but they’re also bringing some of the actors from the first movie back.
Margot Robbie will be back as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman will be back as Rick Flag, as will Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Viola Davis will also be returning as Amanda Waller.

However, there are a lot of actors who won’t be coming back for this movie. Jared Leto won’t be returning as The Joker, and Will Smith won’t be returning as Deadshot.
Turns out that British actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje also failed to make the cut for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
He played Killer Croc in David Ayer’s first movie, and he revealed during a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies UK that he won’t be returning to play the character in Gunn’s movie, and he didn’t seem too upset by it.
“I don’t think I need to [do it again], to be honest,” Akinnuoye-Agbaje told Yahoo Movies UK.
“I did it, I enjoyed it, it bought me a Bentley and I will keep moving on.”
He also revealed that the movie’s box office success and critical panning don’t weigh on him.

“To be quite honest with you, I think I went on to something quite quickly afterwards,” he said.
“Particularly with that kind of genre movie, I don’t take the criticism or reactions too seriously. It’s supposed to be just fun.”
Meanwhile, Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has a huge cast, which includes the likes of Idris Elba, Michael Rooker, Peter Capaldi, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, David Dastmalchian, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi and John Cena.
are you upset that Killer Croc won’t be making a return in this new Suicide Squad movie?
The Suicide Squad will be in UK cinemas on August, 5th, 2020.
