The trailer for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker has just landed and we all have so many questions. One of the big questions is what’s going on between Rey and Kylo Ren in the movie, and another is how does Luke Skywalker fit into all of this.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi ended with Luke Skywalker sacrificing himself to save the Resistance in his last great heroic act, but we do know that he’s going to feature in The Rise Of Skywalker and that was confirmed by the fact that there’s his voiceover in the trailer itself.
So, what is Luke up to in this movie? It’s possible that Luke will be a Force ghost in this movie, and many people are assuming that he’ll be appearing to Rey in the movie.
Is Luke chatting to Kylo Ren, and not Rey?

However, what if he’s actually appearing to somebody else? Would it be too crazy to think that he’s actually talking to Kylo Ren?
“Confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi. Your destiny.” This is Luke’s line in the trailer, and the trailer is leading you to believe that he’s telling Rey this.
But, then I started thinking, what if he’s actually talking to Kylo about all of this. It would make sense. if anything, the person who needs to confront his fear more than anyone is Kylo, or Ben Solo.
Then there’s the very end of the trailer, where we’re looking at Rey’s face, and look can be heard saying, “The Force will be with you,” and then Leia’s voice can be heard saying: “Always”.
This then had me thinking that it could be taken from a scene in which Luke and Leia are both talking to Kylo, who’s about to do a complete 180 degree turn to the Light Side, and then it’ll be revealed that these movies have been just as much about Kylo’s journey than Rey’s.
Is Kylo Ren the key to eliminating the Dark Side?

It all begins and ends with Kylo, and Kylo is the one to rid the galaxy of Palpatine and the Dark Side.
Kylo is the key to it all, but he needs Rey’s help to achieve the final goal of vanquishing the Dark Side once and for all.
I really do believe that this is the story arc they’ll go with because it’s the one that makes the most sense and feels the most Star Wars-esc.
It would also explain why the movie’s called The Rise Of Skywalker. Ben Solo is the only true Skywalker left (apart from Leia, of course), and the story would be about how Skywalker’s side of Ben rises from the ashes.
Will the Skywalker saga end with Kylo Ren?

It would be an interesting way to end the Skywalker saga, which has now spanned over three trilogies and so many years.
It would be a good way to end it, and then give them space to start something new with the following Star Wars trilogy.
