Disney Plus is now here in the UK and other European territories (it took its sweet time), and I was wondering whether Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker would ever be released on Disney’s new streaming platform.
So, as mentioned above, Disney Plus is now available in the UK and other European territories, and it did take them a while to get is launched over here.
That means that we can now watch almost all the Star Wars movies, apart from one – The Rise of Skywalker.
It is true that The Rise of Skywalker was only released back in December, however, there are many people (myself included) who think it should be released on Disney Plus.
The latest Star Wars movie did receive some criticism when it hit cinemas and it didn’t make as much money as expected.
That said, I would still love to rewatch the movie and now that I am a Disney Plus subscriber, I find myself wondering whether it will be coming to the streaming platform in the coming weeks.

Disney initially announced they were going to release Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker online to buy on March 17th.
However, they ended up making it available to buy a couple of days early.
It was released for purchase on March 14th, and I do wonder whether the Coronavirus pandemic had something to do with that decision.
It was nice to see the movie available to buy online, but what about all those Disney Plus subscribers?
Should we all wait until the movie comes to their new streaming platform?
Disney has made the likes of Frozen 2 available on Disney Plus, so it’s pretty safe to assume that they’ll be bringing their latest Star Wars movie to the platform too.
So far, however, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t have a release date on Disney Plue yet.

In normal circumstance, Disney movies tend to be made available on streaming services around seven months after their cinematic release.
This means that The Rise of Skywalker should be available to stream this summer.
However, with what’s going on in the world right now with the COVID-19 pandemic, they might be persuaded to release it early.
This means that The Rise of Skywalker could be available to stream on Disney Plus in May or June as opposed to July or August.
For instance, with Frozen 2, Disney did release it on Disney Plus a few months early.
They could do the same thing with their latest Star Wars movie.
That said, Disney does not like to release too much Star Wars stuff at once.

They’re in the process of releasing new episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7.
This means they might not want to release The Rise of Skywalker whilst that show is still going on.
