It looks like Lucasfilm might be working on another Star Wars film after all – a Poe Dameron origins movie.
It’s been reported that Lucasfilm is looking into the possibility of making an origins movie which details how Poe Dameron became the leader he ended up being.
This report comes from We Got This Covered, so make of that what you will.
They claim that sources informed them that Lucasfilm, as they put it, “is in the early stages of planning out a solo film for Poe, which would explore the origins of both the ace pilot himself and the Resistance as a whole”.
This sounds like it could be the basis for a good TV show if you ask me.
It’s already been said by Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, that the Star Wars movies were going to be put on hold for a while.
This means I’m rather sceptical about the idea of Lucasfilm working on a Poe Dameron Star Wars movie.
It’s also unsure whether Oscar Isaac has any interest in coming back to play Dameron again.
Do we need a Poe Dameron origin movie?

Also, if it were to be an origins movie, then Isaac might be a bit too old to play the role.
However, I don’t think there are any other actors out there who could play a younger Dameron.
I do love the character and I think he’s been fleshed out in the recent comics and books.
There’s a great Star Wars book called Star Wars: Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse.
This book details how Poe Dameron, General Leia Organa, Rey and Finn must struggle to rebuild the Resistance after their defeat at the hands of the First Order in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
There’s a lot in that book about Dameron’s journey to becoming the leader he is in The Rise of Skywalker.
What do you make of this news? Do you think Lucasfilm really is working on a Poe Dameron origin movie?
