William Shatner has revealed that he would be open to returning as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek universe, but he does have one condition.
Star Trek seems to be coming back into the public eye in a pretty big way.
It all started off with the J.J. Abrams movies which seemed to reignite people’s interest in Star Trek.
We then got the return of the Star Trek TV shows.
First off, we got Star Trek Discovery, which I think is great, and that was recently followed up by the equally brilliant, Star Trek Picard.
Both of these shows are wonderful, and in Picard’s case, we got to see Patrick Stewart return as the iconic Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
It now looks like William Shatner wants to return as Captain Kirk, but he does have one condition.
Should William Shatner return to Star Trek?

During a recent interview with Metro here in the UK, Shatner was asked whether he would consider a return to the world of Star Trek.
Here’s what he had to say on the matter:
If they wrote it and it made reasonable sense then I’d love to [revive Captain Kirk]. I wouldn’t do a series. If the role was written properly and it wasn’t a cameo or gratuitous; being there just to show my face, I wouldn’t do that.
Honestly, this is fair enough. They’d have to make his return as epic as possible because he was the original Captain Kirk and his return would be a big deal.
That said, I’m not sure what he meant when he said he “wouldn’t do a series”.
I hope he meant that he wouldn’t do a Kirk series in the same vein as Star Trek Picard.
I think getting Captain Kirk back in one of the new Star Trek shows would make more sense than having him turn up in a movie.
