It’s being reported that Netflix has greenlit spinoff shows to their hit show, Squid Game, which is an interesting new development.
This news comes from Giant Freakin Robot and I have been trying to corroborate it with our sources over at Netflix.
However, there’s been no confirmation from them as of yet.
I will let you know as soon as I hear anything about these supposed Squid Game spinoff shows from our sources.
Yet, what I can confirm is that Netflix is indeed working on Season 2 of Squid Game already.
The show has been a huge hit for the streamer and could end up becoming one of their biggest hits of all time.
It’s set to overtake Bridgerton’s record, which would be incredible for the Korean show.
Is Netflix really working on Squid Game spinoff shows?

Here’s what GFR had to say about Squid Game’s upcoming spinoff shows:
Now, we’ve exclusively learned from one of our trusted and proven inside sources that Squid Game season 2 has been greenlit by Netflix. Not only that, but the streaming service wants to develop spinoffs where Squid Game is played in other countries.
So, this sounds like Netflix wants to do something similar to what they did with Money Heist.
There is a Korean version of Money Heist currently in the works, and it seems as though they might also be prepping other versions of the hit Spanish-language show.
This would make sense since there is precedent here.
However, it does seem as though the Korean version of Squid Game is popular enough already and Netflix might do better to just focus on making the best possible seasons of that show rather than thinking of making other versions of the show in different languages.
