Paul Bettany’s character from Solo: A Star Wars Story, Dryden Vos, is looking pensive in front of an unknown Mandalorian character in this new photo from the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie.
Not much is known about Paul Bettany’s character in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Dryden Vos. We know that he’s a severely scarred criminal overlord who recruits a band of undesirables to carry out a heist for him. And yes, Han and Chewy are two of those undesirables. Lando Calrissian might be another, and they’ll be led, most likely, by Woody Harrelson’s Tobias Beckett, who becomes Han’s mentor.
We saw Bettany’s character very briefly in one of the film’s trailers, yet now, thanks to you Empire’s photo, we’ve got a better look at the guy. As you can see, he’s got some nasty facial scarring and seems to be flanked by a person in Mandalorian armour. Nothing is known about this character.
We had seen a glimpse of something resembling a Mandalorian helmet in a previous image of Bettany in his Vos costume shared by Ron Howard. Naturally, people immediately started claiming that it was Boba Fett, but this picture shows that the character in question is not the infamous Star Wars bounty hunter that everybody’s so obsessed with despite having very few lines of dialogue in the original trilogy. But his stoic silence just made him so much cooler.
Interestingly enough, Bettany was not originally intended to play Vos. Back when Phil Lord and Chris Miller were directing, Vos was to be played by Michael K. Williams, but unfortunately, he was unable to come back for the reshoots due to a scheduling conflict, so Ron Howard decided to bring in Bettany instead to play the character. That must have sucked for Williams.
However, I’m still looking forward to seeing what Bettany, and this mysterious Mandalorian character, have in store for us in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Solo will be in UK cinemas on May 24th. Will you be watching it? Let us know in the comments below.
