Apple TV Plus has renewed Shrinking Season 2, so we should expect the return of Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams. This news comes even before the penultimate episode and finale.
Segel co-created the series with one of the minds behind the Ted Lasso series, Bill Lawrence and Roy Kent actor Brett Goldstein.
The series sheds light on a particular approach to mental health. Segel portrays the role of Jimmy Laird. Laird is a therapist at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center.
He has been struggling with grief since he lost his wife the previous year. In order to go through the process as quickly as possible, he decides to take new measures for his patients in form of speaking his mind as plainly as it comes. This change in handling patients result in drastic situations and encounters in their day-to-day life.
While viewers enjoy the comedy of the series, the story of loss and way-to-cope is also on full display. Through the series, there have risen online discussions on situations and mental processes that the story covered and featured. People identify and relate to what Jimmy is going through.
Viewers and critics agree that the show has been delighting audiences for the past weeks. It currently reflects a Certified Fresh Tomato rating of 81% with an Average Audience Score of slightly higher 84%. Apple TV Plus definitely would like to keep it that way.

It is incredible how Shrinking is able to paint comedy over the despair that Laird is going through. So many people are introspective about their pain. Sometimes the only way those people get to displace their heavy emotions is through entertainment. Thus, the series can be viewed as a form of escape.
The momentary laughter and absurdity of the situations that happen somewhat, if not entirely, due to Laird’s brute honesty puts some real-life worries in perspective. Laird’s journey through his own grief may be hilarious, as some will see through the series. But behind it all, it acknowledges that the pain is really real.
Catch the penultimate episode of Shrinking next week on March 17, with the season finale on March 24 only on Apple TV Plus.
