Secret Invasion is coming to Disney Plus later this year, but until now, we didn’t have a firm release date for the new Marvel Studios series on Disney’s streaming platform. So, let’s get into the weeds of this story.
Disney Plus recently updated the page for Secret Invasion, and in doing so, Disney revealed that the show would be hitting the streaming platform on June 21st, 2023. This means that the first episode of the series will be dropped on that date.
Shows are released weekly on Disney Plus, which I actually enjoy. However, they do sometimes release the first two or even three episodes at once. I’m not sure that this is going to be the cast with Secret Invasion.

This upcoming series will follow Nick Fury (played by Samual L. Jackson) and other characters as the world is infiltrated by a Skrull invasion, with the alien race taking the forms of significant figures on earth. This comes just days after a report indicated Secret Invasion had suffered a delay with a move from May to June.
The news that the series would be landing on Disney Plus on June 21st was actually revealed via Disney Plus themselves. However, this report comes to us via CBR.com. That said, it has to be stated that Disney Plus has since ‘delisted’ the show from its upcoming release schedule.
This could either mean that the release date was wrong, or it could be that Disney and Marvel Studios didn’t actually want the release date to be revealed this early. It’s going to be interesting to see whether they end up sticking to this release date.

Given the fact that the show was delayed by a few months, some Marvel fans have been wondering online whether the series is in trouble. Personally, I don’t think so. This Secret Invasion series could end up being brilliant. I have a feeling it might be.
What I think happened is that they needed more time to finish the show, which is a good thing. After Bob Iger became Disney’s CEO (again), he revealed that they are going to start slowing down with upcoming releases.
They are going to release fewer movies and TV shows and spend more time on the ones they are making, which is exactly what they should have done. Marvel Studios went into overdrive during and after the pandemic, and it resulted in the MCU’s Phase 4 being rather lacklustre.
Secret Invasion will feature the likes of Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman), James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). Olivia Colman joined the cast as Special Agent Sonya Falsworth, whom many believe but be related to Howling Commandos’ James Montgomery Falsworth.
Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke also joined the cast in an undisclosed role, though some believe she’s playing a Skrull named G’iah and the daughter of Talos.
The first episode of Secret Invasion should be released on Disney Plus on June 21st, 2023.
