A Scarlet Witch solo movie is reportedly in development over at Marvel Studios. This news comes to us via a Twitter account called Marvel Updates, and I would love this actually to happen. Please, before I continue, bear in mind that this account is pretty much untested and has been saying a lot of stuff over the last few months that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

So, according to their tweet, Wanda Maximoff is getting her own solo movie, and it’s in development as we speak. Reportedly, it was to be announced during Marvel’s panel at the D23 Expo. Well, the Expo came and went and no official announcement. Does this mean that the movie isn’t happening? No, it doesn’t, and it does seem as though there was a lot planned for the Marvel panel that didn’t end up happening. I’m pretty certain that they did want to announce the Fantastic Four cast at the event, but all they did was announce that Matt Shakman would be directing the movie.

Elizabeth Olsen played Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, and I would argue that she was the best thing about the movie. She was the villain in the film, and she was pretty darn scary in the movie. The Scarlet Witch is one of the best characters in Marvel Comics, and I really do hope we get to see her again on the biggest stage possible: the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Olsen plays her so perfectly, and I think she should become one of the major players in the MCU moving forward.
Will that actually happen? I have a feeling it might. There’s something about the character that gets people very excited. WandaVision was a huge hit, and her performance in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness was also really well received. It would be pretty silly of Marvel Studios not to give the character her own standalone movie, especially since we already know that WandaVision isn’t going be getting a second season, which is really sad news as far as I’m concerned.

So, it does sound as though things are moving forward as far as Wanda’s solo movie is concerned. Again, nothing has been confirmed officially yet, but it does sound as though it’s going to happen. And you know what, it should happen. I think it would be a travesty if Marvel Studios doesn’t make the movie. They have to make the character one of the big players in the MCU moving forward.
Elizabeth Olsen has been playing very coy as far as her return as Wanda Maximoff’s concerned. She has said that she would love to play her again, but she has “no idea” if she’s going to get to play the character again. I’m pretty certain she’s already signed on the dotted line and that we’re going to get to see her perform her magic again on moviegoers the world over.
