It’s being rumoured that Robert Downey Jr is in talks to star in an upcoming season of The Mandalorian on Disney Plus, which is pretty interesting. This report comes to us from Pirates & Princess, which is a new website to me, but it was also corroborated by Daniel Richtman.
Here’s what Pirates & Princess wrote about Robert Downey Jr being in talks to star in The Mandalorian:
So let’s just get straight to it: we believe at this time based on our sources, and other just-breaking reporting, that Robert Downey Jr is in serious talks to join the Favreau-Filoni Star Wars cinematic universe.
They went on to signal that Daniel Richtman had also reported the same information, so it sounds as though Robert Downey Jr and Jon Favreau could end up teaming up again, which would be pretty cool. However, there’s no real information on which character Downey Jr could end up playing in the Disney Plus series if he does sign on the dotted line.
Robert Downey Jr could be up for a role in The Mandalorian

The other thing that wasn’t mentioned in the article was which role Robert Downey Jr was up for. There has been some speculation that he could be up for the role of Grand Admiral Thrawn, however, I’m not so sure this will happen.
One of the main reasons why I think that he won’t be playing Thrawn is because he is just not right for the role. The other reason is that we know here at Small Screen that the frontrunner for the role is Lars Mikkelsen.
