It’s being reported that Robert Downey Jr is currently in talks to star in a new Star Wars movie. This new movie is reportedly going to be from Jon Favreau. This report comes to us from Giant Freakin Robot.
According to their sources, the actor will swap the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a galaxy far, far away! They don’t have any information on what character he’s going to be playing in this movie.
They don’t even have any details about what this Star Wars movie will entail or when it’ll come out. However, the one bit of information they were told was that this film is being worked on behind the scenes by Jon Favreau.
Favreau has, over the years, kind of become the Kevin Feige of the Star Wars ‘cinematic universe’. He started off by being the creator of The Mandalorian. He then went on to oversee another Star Wars project, The Book Of Boba Fett.

Jon Favreau and Downey Jr have worked together in the past, of course. Favreau was instrumental in getting him cast as Tony Stark in the very first Iron Man movie. So, you could say that Favreau is the main reason why he has gone on to become the household name he is today.
He also helped him in becoming one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood history. It was reported that Marvel Studios’ top brass weren’t convinced by Downey Jr for the role of Tony Stark. They reportedly wanted to cast Tom Cruise in the role.
Imagine how different the MCU would have been had they ended up casting Tom Cruise as Tony Stark instead. No slight on Cruise, but I believe it wouldn’t have had the longevity and the success the MCU has proven to have – and it’s still going on today!

I, for one, am excited to see what ends up happening with this future Star Wars movie. I like the idea of seeing the two of them working together again. Favreau directed Downey Jr in Iron Man and Iron Man 2 and they ended up making two pretty good movies together.
They also have a good on-screen chemistry. However, I highly doubt that Favreau will star in this Star Wars movie he’s reportedly working on. However, I wouldn’t be overly suprised to see him turn up in a supporting role in the movie.
The future of the Star Wars cinematic universe looks bright, and I’m hopeful that this next crop of Star Wars movies will end up being a lot better than the previous ones we got. That said, there were some real gems in there.
I loved Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, for instance, and I’m someone who actually enjoyed Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I actually also liked Star Wars: The Last Jedi quite a bit, but I know that many Star Wars fans think that Rian Johnson’s movie is awful and “ruined their childhoods”, so I’ll leave that movie alone!
