Ridley Scott Reveals He Still Has Plans To Make More Alien Movies

Director Ridley Scott has revealed that he plans on making even more Alien movies following the first Alien movie, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

When people find out that I love movies and then ask the inevitable question, ‘So, what’s your favourite movie?’ I always offer the same answer: Alien.

I’m of the opinion that Ridley Scott’s first Alien movie is a genuine masterpiece.

I really cannot fault that movie. It got me into horror in a big way, but it also got me into movies.

The movie just looked stunningly grimey and dark.

The score was perfectly eerie and I thought Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley was one of the most fascinating lead characters I’d ever seen in a movie before.

To cut a long-winded opening to this article short, I love Alien.

So, when it was revealed that Ridley Scott was returning to the franchise he started way back in 1979, I was understandably very excited.

Yet, Prometheus wasn’t the movie I was hoping for, and then he made Alien: Covenant and that was even worse as far as I’m concerned.

Should Ridley Scott make any more Alien movies?

That said, when Disney took over 20th Century Fox and therefore took creative control over the Alien franchise, I was wondering what could be next for Alien.

Well, it sounds as if Ridley Scott is still very much interested in the franchise.

He revealed to the LA Times that he has plans for more movies set in the Alien universe.

I still think there’s a lot of mileage in ‘Alien,’ but I think you’ll have to now re-evolve. What I always thought when I was making it, the first one, why would a creature like this be made and why was it travelling in what I always thought was a kind of war-craft, which was carrying a cargo of these eggs. What was the purpose of the vehicle and what was the purpose of the eggs? That’s the thing to question — who, why, and for what purpose is the next idea, I think.

So, it sounds as if Scott isn’t quite done with the franchise yet.

Hopefully, it might end up being a case of third time lucky.
