A Rick and Morty fan successfully recreated McDonald’s Szechuan sauce

YouTuber Binging with Babish has managed to recreate McDonald’s Szechuan sauce which Rick and Morty has brought back into the public eye.

Rick and Morty’s Rick Sanchez is on a mission to find McDonald’s Szechuan sauce and no one’s going to stop him. He revealed this fact in Season 3’s premiere episode, and added that the show won’t end until he gets that Szechuan sauce.

“That Mulan Sezchuan McNugget sauce Morty, that’s what this is all about. My series arc – that’s gonna take us all the way to the end,” he said.

“Nine more seasons until I get that Szechuan sauce, Morty. 97 more years.”

Fans of Rick and Morty have since been spending thousands purchasing McDonald’s long since discontinued dipping sauce which has spawned a barrage of fake recipes online. That said, McDonald’s did send a tub of Szechuan sauce to the show’s co-creator, Justin Roiland.

But someone may have just discovered McDonald’s secret Szechuan sauce recipe and figured out how to make their own batch at home.

Oliver Babish, creator of the YouTube channel Binging With Babish, found what he referred to as a “spy photo” of the McDonald’s closely guarded recipe which was supposedly taken at the fast food chain’s HQ.

He was also sent a ‘real sample’ of the sauce and, along with the help of the rather vague recipe, managed to recreate what he believes to be the exact same Szechuan sauce that Rick is so eager to find.

Babish claimed that previous attempts at recreating McDonald’s now legendary sauce were “wild, flailing shots in the dark”.

“Pathetic and meager attempts to recreate a long-lost condiment out of scanty information and back-alley sources.”

“But thanks to a very kind man named David Wasman, I have procured a sample of the genuine article,” he claimed.

The verdict’s still out on whether Babish is talking nonsense or not. I suppose we’ll have to try the recipe out for ourselves and get back to you on its legitimacy.

And if it does turn out to be the genuine article, does that mean that Rick’s mission is now futile? Has Binging With Babish brought an end to one of the best TV shows on the air right now? Only time will tell.
