Reacher Season 2 is all we can talk about here at Small Screen! We have huge fans of the show and cannot wait to watch the second season of the hit Prime Video series which is based on Lee Childs’ incredible books.
The first season of the show was released last yet, in 2022, and it was an immediate hit with Prime Video subscribers. People seemed to really love Alan Ritchson’s take on the character.
He’s the second actor to ever play the role, after Tom Cruise portrayed the ex-United States Army Military Police Investigator.
Cruise played the role in the 2012 movie, which was directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Even though fans of the book were a bit perplexed to find out that Cruise was taking on the role, the movie ended up pretty pretty decent.
However, it was hard for everyone with any previously knowledge of the character from the books to really believe Cruise as Reacher.
Reacher is supposed to be 6 ft 5 in tall, which Cruise most definitely is not. However, even though there was a lot of backlash to Cruise’s casting in the role, the movie ended up getting a sequel: Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.
The movie was released in 2016, and it also performed pretty well at the box office.
However, it seems as though Prime Video and fans of the books are much more inthralled by Ritchson’s take on the character as he’s much closer to the character from the books.
He also delivered an incredible performance in the first season and we cannot wait to see him play the role again in the upcoming second season.

Fans of the hit Amazon Prime Video show Reacher will be pleased to know that a second season is indeed in the works.
The series is based on the bestselling book series by Lee Child and follows the adventures of the titular character, a former military policeman who travels the country investigating and solving crimes.
The second season will be based on the book, Bad Luck and Trouble. This was revealed by Ritchson himself via his Instagram account.
Here’s what he had to say about the upcoming season season:
Were you Reacher enough to decipher the last image?
If not, don’t feel bad. Even Finlay had a hard time with the evidence and as bad as his taste in music was, he was a pretty good detective.
“O’Donnell put his hand in his pocket and came out with his brass knuckles. Ceramic knuckles, technically.”
That’s right, season 2 of #ReacherOnPrime will be based on Bad Luck and Trouble (Jack Reacher, #11), written by the legendary Lee Child.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve read it — When the members of Reacher’s old military unit start turning up dead, Reacher has just one thing on his mind: Revenge.
Filming will commence this fall.
Can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.
When will Season 2 be released?

While an official release date has not been announced yet, it is expected that the second season of Reacher will be released sometime in 2023. The show’s creators are currently in the process of writing and filming new episodes of the series.
We’ve already revealed in an exclusive article that the third season is in the works over at Prime Video. As far as Season 2’s release date is concerned, Amazon Studios’ Head of Television Vernon Sanders revealed to Collider that the second season will be released later this year.
It’s going really well. Alan is back, and he is so fantastic in the role. I’m so proud of the producers [for] finding that fit for Reacher. The Reacher fans of the book, their reaction to the show has just been a dream. Season 2 is awesome.
And as great as season one was, I think season two delivers beyond that, and I do think there’s a good chance that that show will be back next year.
Which Reacher book is the second season based on?
The second season of Reacher will be based on the book Bad Luck And Trouble which is the eleventh book of the series. The show’s creators have also announced that they plan to adapt elements from other books in the series as well.
Reacher Season 2 began filming back in September 2022 with the show itself premiering back in February of last year. Shortly after its successful launch which saw the eight-episode season enter the streaming platform’s top five most-watched series ever in the U.S. and globally.
The show’s first season ended up being one of the most-binged original series ever on Prime Video. It was then confirmed that the show was getting a second season renewal three days following its premiere.
Season 1 followed the first book of the novel series and Child’s debut novel Killing Floor, which saw Reacher arrested for murder, which leads him down a rabbit hole of corruption and conspiracy that sees him unravel dirty dealings between the police, businessmen, and politicians.
Season 2 is set to jump ahead in the book series as it will adapt the 11th book, Bad Luck and Trouble. While both stories see Reacher searching for the truth, Season 2 will lean more into a revenge story as he investigates the deaths of his friends from his old military unit.
What could happen in the second season?
As mentioned above, the second season of Reacher is expected to follow the events of Bad Luck And Trouble, which finds Jack investigating a series of murders that appear to be connected to his time in the military.
However, it’s a bit more complicated than that because the people that were killed were Reacher’s friends from his old military unit. This means that this second season will be a revenge story, which I am all down for.
Who’s going to be in the cast?

The show’s lead actor, Alan Ritchson, will return as Jack Reacher. However, many of the other cast members from the show’s first season will not be returning for the second season.
Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin), Roscoe Conklin (Willa Fitzgerald), or other citizens of Margrave, Georgia aren’t involved in the eleventh book in the series, so it looks like the actors won’t be coming back for round two.
This has been all but confirmed by Fitzgerald, who said she always knew Roscoe was only going to be in Season 1 in an interview with Digital Spy.
However, Deadline reported that Season 2 will include Season 1 vet Frances Neagley (Maria Sten), who was one of Reacher’s old squadmates on his military police team. Frances is a recurring character in the Reacher novels, so it makes sense that she’s going to recur in the show.
Moreover, Deadline revealed that Shaun Sipos, who was last seen on Prime Video’s Outer Range, will play David O’Donnell, Reacher’s pal from the 110th Army unit of special investigators. He’ll be a major lead in the season opposite Ritchson.
Deadline then revealed more cast members, including Serinda Swan (Marvel’s Inhumans), Ferdinand Kingsley (The Sandman), and Rory Cochrane (CSI: Miami). Swan will play special investigator Karla Dixon, Kingsley will play undercover mercenary A.M., and Cochrane will play private defense contractor security head Shane Langston.
Additionally, Domenick Lombardozzi, Luke Bilyk, Dean McKenzie, Edsson Morales, Andres Collantes, Shannon Kook-Chun, Ty Victor Olsson, Josh Blacker, and Al Sapienza will also star in Season 2 in various roles.
Will there be more seasons of Jack Reacher?
The show’s creators have not yet announced any plans for future seasons of Reacher. However, given the success of the first season and the popularity of the book series, it is likely that more seasons will be produced in the future.
Has a trailer been released yet?

In conclusion, Reacher fans can look forward to a second season of the show, based on the book Bad Luck And Trouble with a yet to be announced release date, a cast of returning and new actors and the possibility of more seasons to come.
