The new trailer for Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 is here and it features some rather graphic video game violence that you wouldn’t expect in a Disney animated movie. Check it out here.
The first Wreck-It Ralph was something of a surprise hit. Nobody expected it to do as well as it did, yet kids and adults loved it and it made a bucket load of money, enough to make a sequel. Many argue that Wreck-It-Ralph is one of the best video game movies ever made, although it’s not based on a particular video game property so it might not quite qualify on that front. That said, it does feature more classic video game character than any other movie ever made.
Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 on the horizon we’ve been expecting to get our first glimpse of the movie, and Disney has finally released the film’s first trailer which features the same colourful fun we saw from the first movie. That said, the trailer features a scene of video game violence that some might find to be a bit too disturbing for what is essentially a children’s film.
The scene I’m referring to is the moment when Ralph gatecrashes a mobile game in which the player has to feed pancakes to a lovely little pink bunny and milkshakes to a cute cate. But when Ralph gets involved he starts taking it upon himself to feed them and in true Ralph fashion, things start to go a bit wrong. The scene culminates in a way that had me thinking of the awful Mr.Creosote sketch from Monty Python, just less graphic. Still, sometimes implication is all you need.
Don’t get me wrong, the film looks like a lot of fun and I have faith that the people behind the first Wreck-It-Ralph movie, Frozen and Zootopia know what they’re doing. Let’s just hope that not too many children will be upset by the scene in question. I certainly was.
Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 comes out in UK theatres on March 9th. Are you looking forward to it? let us know in the comments below.
