There hasn’t been a Pirates of the Caribbean offering since Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017, and the franchise is at risk of becoming shipwrecked if there is no new addition soon. Currently, the swashbuckling series is ranked outside the top 15 most successful film franchises of all time, with a total of $4.5 billion at the box office.
To prevent it from slipping down further, there are plans for a sixth instalment in the series as well as a spinoff. However, there hasn’t been any recent news about when fans can expect these to hit the screens.
New Pirates Film Needs to Drop Soon to Capitalise on the Genre’s Popularity

There’s no doubt that the Pirates of the Caribbean pictures helped to bring the pirate genre into the mainstream, and the series’ influence on the wider entertainment industry in the years since the release of The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003 has been astounding. Along with four more instalments in the much-loved series, the franchise that began with Gore Verbinski in the director’s chair inspired television series like Black Sails and Our Flag Means Death.
The effect of the Pirates films has been most noticeable in gaming, where there are now countless options for players to choose from. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is considered one of the best in the flagship Ubisoft series, and this has led the developer to revisit the genre with the upcoming Skull and Bones.
On mobile, there are numerous pirate games for players to enjoy, such as Pirate Kings and Plunder Pirates. Online casino players enjoy these themes, with Dead Man’s Gold at SpinYoo one of the standout options. This site is one of the top new casinos thanks to the availability of games like this, along with its generous deposit match welcome offer. The Walt Disney Company should take advantage of this pirate hype while it lasts and release its new films as soon as possible.

When Pirates of the Caribbean does bounce back, it could do so with a bang. Indeed, it may be wise for the studio to release both of its planned pictures in the same year to capitalise on the hype train that would inevitably surround them. This could be combined with game releases that help to market the movies to as broad an audience as possible.
Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is reportedly in the development stages, but no news on casting has been announced yet. Orlando Bloom confirmed that he would be interested in returning as Will Turner. Fans would be pleased if this came to fruition because the franchise noticeably took a downward turn after the Lord of the Rings star stopped being the focal point of the story.
The reported spinoff is apparently going to be an all-female adventure set within the same universe as Pirates of the Caribbean but with an original premise. Margot Robbie is set to be the film’s lead, and Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson is in charge of penning the screenplay.
It wouldn’t make sense for Disney to give up on Pirates of the Caribbean, as it’s such a good earner for the studio. There will likely be an announcement soon about the new movies, which is bound to pique some excitement amongst the fans.
