Author Rick Riordan has revealed that Percy Jackson Season 2 is already in development while Season 1 is deep in post-production for Disney Plus. The creator of the series discloses that he has been swamped in the writers’ room developing the story that follows Percy Jackson And The Olympians. Many of his fans, whom he calls the demigods, have been waiting to see his vision from paper to screen.
It isn’t a secret that the author criticised the interpretation of his books in the previous movies some years ago. Now, because he has been involved in the production since day 1 through his own production company Mythomagic, Inc., expectations are high for the series coming in 2024.
The author himself has been very enthusiastic as the production developed these past months with nothing but praises for his trio, Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan as Grover.
Before his latest entry in his blog, he paid tribute to the series’ Zeus, the late Lance Reddick. Commending the Charon of John Wick actor, the author also expressed gratitude for being able to work with Reddick, if only for a brief period of time. Riordan noted that Reddick embodied Zeus perfectly in all his scenes.

Based on the author’s latest blog entry on RickRiordan.com, together with several books and other projects, Percy Jackson Season 2 is in the works. The author couldn’t contain his excitement. He posted:
The first season of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now in post-production. …
Meanwhile, we have started work on the writers’ room for season two. This does NOT mean the second season has been green-lit yet. It’s too early for that.
Quick to pull some stops to those who may be getting ahead of themselves, he immediately shared they have yet to secure the green light for season two. However, the first steps for the progression of the series are indeed underway. He continued:
But we have been approved to start developing scripts, and I think everyone’s expectation is that a second season will happen if all goes as planned. It sure is exciting to be part of the room, though.
As expected, the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will showcase the second book, The Sea of Monsters. In the post, he shared his optimism and can’t actually wait to introduce new characters from the book. Specifically, he mentioned Tyson, the Cyclops and the Party Ponies. Still, he said:
My usual disclaimer: This is all HYPOTHETICAL at this point. We have big plans, but nothing is green-lit (past the writers room) and nothing is set in stone. Fingers crossed, though, the first season does as well as we hope, and leads to an even greater second! I continue to be in the writers’ room every day, weighing in on every creative decision.

Just by the tone of how he writes his blog updates, fans are already optimistic about finally sharing his vision. Invariably he would say how much Percy Jackson has been part of his son’s childhood. Thus, he hopes to have that same meaningful significance for a new generation of demigods.
Many who have also followed and liked the previous movies that starred Logan Lerman as Percy, Brandon T. Jackson as Grover and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth are hoping to see the actors appear in the series somehow. There was even a time that fans were hoping to see Lerman as Poseidon, which some say would be a fitting cast for Scobell’s Percy’s father. However, the role went to Toby Stephens.
I am looking forward to seeing the series, as it is a passion project for Riordan. Aside from that, it is one of the last projects people will witness Lance Reddick lend his regal presence as the leader of the Olympians.
