We have an update on the rumoured Anaconda reboot, which suggests that Paul Rudd and Pedro Pascal are on board the project. Over a month ago, we also reported that the project is eyeing Nicholas Cage to be cast.
While not a lot of information is available as to how much of the original will be kept in the developing reboot, there are specific characters that may just be what production is aiming for the two actors. Considering that Cage is also being considered for the reboot, it is possible that one of them may be the scientist, and the other will be a local contact. Another could be part of the documentary team.
Reports also indicate that director Tom Gormican from 2014 That Awkward Moment and 2022 The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent would be at the helm of the reboot.

Following up on the giant snake movie’s reboot is Giant Freakin Robot’s report that award-winning actors Ant-Man Paul Rudd and The Mandalorian Pedro Pascal have been offered respective roles in the project.
Back in 2020, Sony Pictures already had Evan Daugherty to write the film. Daugherty is known for his work on the 2018 Tomb Raider, 2012 Snow White and the Huntsman, 2014 Divergent and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the same year. He also has an upcoming project currently in development that will be the third act of his Snow White characters entitled Rose Red.
Moviegoers know that Cage and Pascal have already worked together in Gormican’s second movie. Much like some directors, Gormican is likely playing favourites trying to cast Cage and Pascal into the project together again. It isn’t unusual for a director to have a go-to list of actors for his project. For one thing, he already knows how they work.
Meanwhile, should Rudd sign on for the project, this will be his introduction to the director and the two actors. That is, supposing Cage and Pascal would also be on board. Rudd has just reprised his role as the MCU’s Scott Lang in this year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The Marvel actor has lent his voice to Mondo Gecko of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem which is already in post-production. He will also appear in the Ghostbusters sequel as Grooberson, set to arrive in theatres this year. Further down his pipeline are the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, another rumoured Ant-Man movie and The Invite.

The original film starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, Owen Wilson, Kari Wuhrer, Vincent Castellanos and Danny Trejo. All of whom are now familiar names in the industry. Even though the 1997 movie didn’t particularly impress critics and audiences, it has grown its own charm, considering it was still a blockbuster hit.
The movie still earned a sequel in 2004 and launched a number of direct-to-video movies. It even had a crossover feature with that of the Lake Placid franchise titled Lake Placid vs. Anaconda, released in 2015. However, the crossover movie may be interesting on paper, and it surely will be a different story on screen. We will let you find out what we mean.
Hopefully, the reboot of this horror and suspenseful monster movie will bring better storytelling and cinematography to the franchise. Even though many may be wondering why they would actually consider reviving the film, there is still that possibility that they’d be able to get it well done, hopefully with Nicholas Cage, Paul Rudd and Pedro Pascal.
