Outlander star Sam Heughan has revealed that he once auditioned for the role of James Bond.
In an interview with the Gentleman’s Journal, Heughan revealed he auditioned for the part back in 2005 for Casino Royale.
However, he ultimately lost out to Daniel Craig.
Heughen has played the role of Jamie Fraser in Outlander since the show began in 2014.
Sam Heughan doesn’t rate his chances of replacing Daniel Craig as 007

Revealing that he went up for the part, Heughan commented:
I was quite young then. I was like twenty-something. It was when Daniel Craig got the role. And I think, initially at least, they were going to go younger; to go back to when Bond was like 20-years-old.”
With Daniel Craig bowing out of the franchise, speculation has been rampant as to who will be the next actor to don Bond’s tuxedo.
However, Heughan doesn’t think it will be him:
I don’t think so. I think the odds [12/1] are a bit of a fallacy. I mean, I’m obviously such a huge fan of the Bond movies. I actually just rewatched the most recent one again, No Time To Die. I mean, it would be an incredible job, wouldn’t it?
Being James Bond would certainly be an awesome job for any actor.
Speculation as to who will replace Craig has been non-stop ever since No Time to Die opened.
We suspect we might soon find out the answer to that question this year.
